My First Sex Toy;
I want to preface this by saying, I lost my virginity young, younger than I should of. Sex to me was something I entered into early, along with experimentation and masturbation. These are things that I am not ashamed of, however given my time over again, maaaybe i’d do it slightly differently. But I was sexually aware, shall we say?
I grew up with two older siblings, and my brother had an extensive DVD collection - not those kinds of DVDS, but particularly films surrounding sex. Seth Rogan films like Zac and Miri make a porno, other more coming of age teenage movies like Superbad, The Girl Next Door and Knocked Up. Suffice to say I shouldn’t of been watching them at the age I did, but I saw and understood a lot of things, particularly around sex. I’m of the generation where you went to sleepovers at your friends houses and sat on Omgele, where i’ve seen many an old mans penis which has been burnt into my memory, along with putting on Sexectra and Babestation. It was a whole world that felt naughty, but we were so intrigued by. We’d venture into a local sex toy shop and I can tell you for sure I was 14, but because I had boobs and knew how to snatch a wing liner, I don’t think anyone paid attention. I went in with one of my friends, and purchased a small pink bullet vibrator and from then on, i’ve grown quite a collection!

Heart Top Glass Dildo 🤍
Not only is this one of the prettiest toys that I own, it’s also a multifunctional toy! I had always been cautious of glass sex toys, particularly around the fact I worried that they would smash inside me, but after doing some research, this isn’t something that happens often!
I started looking into these when I saw them in a local sex shop. They caught my eye purely for how pretty they looked, but once I started looking into temperature play, I realised this could be a great addition to the collection!
Why is this one of my favourites?
It’s Hard; forgive the pun.. but i’ve noticed that the more solid the material of the toy, the more intense the pressure and stimulation is, which I tend to find a lot more pleasurable.
Temperature play; these are great for if you’re wanting to explore different sensations using temperature. They can be put into water, hot or cold and allowed to sit, so when you use, the sensation changes depending on the temperature. I like to use these for cold sensations, not even just internally, but to trail over someones back or nipples.
Durability; as long as glass toys are looked after properly, they can last for years.
Multi-Use; glass dildos can be used in a variety of ways as mentioned previously. They can be used for internal stimulation aswell at external. But always remember if you’re going to use them anally, make sure they have a flared base!
The Thruster Rabbit
I feel like a rabbit is the toy we’ve all heard about. The shaft for internal stimulation and the little ‘ears’ for your clitoris. It was originally launched by Ann Summers in the 90’s and sky rocketed in popularity due to Sex and the City. Since then, it’s been one of the best selling toys on the market, it was revolutionary because it was one of the first of its kind, to pair internal and external stimulation!
Why do I love it?
Sleek and Compact; this is a sleek and smooth toy that is easy to use and to pop into your suitcase if you’re travelling or in your bedside drawer for safe keeping!
Rechargeable; this is something I look for in the majority of my toys due to not wanting to keep buying batteries and having to steal them out of the tv remove when you’re half way through because the last lot have died.
Dual Stimulation; not only does it have internal and external stimulation, this one also has a thrusting setting, meaning it creates more pleasure which can result in blended orgasms (my favourite)!
Good for solo and partnered sessions; this toy is a great toy to use alone or with a partner, it’s easy to use and easy to manoeuvre meaning that it can be used on you by someone else.
Although this was another sex toy that was gifted too me, it is one that I would repurchase!
Metal Buttplugs
This may seem one of the more mundane toys, one of the more ‘boring’ ones if you will, however this is something I always gravitate towards. Buttplugs were originally marketed as medical instruments and slowly became filtered into sex. As you may know, you can get a variety of different shape, size and materials of buttplugs but for me, the metal is my favourite!
Why’s it my go to?
Enhanced Sensation; I find that because the metal buttplugs are heavier they provide more of a feeling fullness in your anus. Some people can find this uncomfortable, and others really enjoy this sensation.
Temperature Play; similar to the glass dildo, metal plugs can be used in temperature play. Popping them in the fridge, warm bowls of water etc to provide a different sensation during play. Please be careful with this kind of play. We don’t want 3rd degree burns inside our anus, that will be very painful!
Firmness – They are completely rigid (no flexibility), which makes them feel more intense compared to silicone or softer plugs.
